Beat the winter chill with an indoor walking tour of Massachusetts General Hospital. Our private visit will explore the campus’s blend of historic and modern buildings, which have housed medical innovations since the hospital’s founding in 1811. We will discover the history of American medicine through the breakthroughs that have occurred at Mass General since the 19th century. The oldest building on campus is home to the Ether Dome, where the first successful public surgery using ether as an anesthetic was performed in 1846. After touring the sites of MGH’s medical milestones, we’ll have the opportunity to visit the Russell Museum of Medical History and Innovation.
